GIS Standards

All MnDOT GIS data must be supplied in:

UTM coordinates
Zone 15E extended
NAD83
GRS80
horizontal units = meters
vertical units (if used) = feet

If you download background data from the MnDOT GIS basemap website they will meet this standard.

GIS data must be in ArcView shapefiles. No other formats will be accepted. Pre-defined, but empty, shapefiles can be provided upon request to facilitate data creation.
