History and significance

The Golden Grain Bridge, constructed in 1968, carries State Highway 175 over the Red River of the North at the North Dakota state line (ND-5) in Kittson County. The continuous steel girder bridge is significant as an example of a major river crossing in the state.  It also represents an initiative to expand transportation networks in the region, open new areas in the state to economic development, and connect communities.
