About Project Management at MnDOT

Purpose

MnDOT's Project Management Unit ensures that everyone involved in MnDOT project management has everything they need to successfully manage and deliver those projects, on time and on budget, while meeting all project requirements. The Project Management Unit also provides support to the functional groups and specialty offices in ways that keep these projects on track.

What the Project Management Unit does

  • Balanced letting schedule
  • Cost, budget, and risk guidance
  • Guidance, tools and templates
  • P6
  • RMP
  • Project management SSC

Transportation vs non-transportation projects

Although most of MnDOT's projects are related to highways, we do have projects that involve other transportation modes or are unrelated to transportation. While the details may be different, many of the principles are still the same for all projects. Most tools have Highway and non-highway versions available. In P6, schedules for highway projects and building services projects are available. If another type of project schedule is needed in P6, please contact the Project Management Unit.
