History & significance
Bridge R0156 (also known as the Mill Pond Bridge) was constructed from 1973 to 1975 and carries a pedestrian trail connecting E.L. Peterson Park and the Sherin Park Campground over Mill Pond. This three-span, pedestrian, steel suspension bridge has decorative metal rail assemblies, welded into a pattern consisting of right angles. Bridge R0156 was constructed by the local, family owned Resset Construction firm with assistance from local volunteers and funding raised entirely by local community efforts. The bridge is significant for its direct association with ground-up community development and represents the culmination of community-led efforts over several years.
