History & significance

Bridge 95116 is a single-span, precast concrete arch bridge constructed in 1983 under the proprietary BEBO patent. It carries Trunk Highway 71 over Eagle Creek in the city of Eagle Bend, Todd County. The BEBO design was developed by Swiss civil engineer Werner Heierli in the 1960s. The patented parabolic design involved complex engineering and included precasting of headwalls, wingwalls, the arch, and arch base. Bridge 95116 is significant as an early example of a BEBO patent precast arch bridge constructed in Minnesota.
