History & significance
Bridge 62082 carries County State Aid Highway (CSAH) 3 from Saint Paul to the east, over Mississippi River Boulevard, the Mississippi River, and River Parkway West, into Minneapolis to the west, in Ramsey and Hennepin Counties. CSAH 3 is cosigned Marshall Avenue in Saint Paul and Lake Street in Minneapolis, giving the bridge the name the Lake Street-Marshall Avenue Bridge. It was constructed with open spandrels and is the only known concrete arch bridge in Minnesota constructed with hollow ribs, allowing the bridge to possess an extreme main span length (1,483 feet) amongst other concrete arch bridges. The Lake Street-Mashall Avenue bridge is significant as a variation of a concrete arch bridge with an exceptionally long main span.
