Construct new interchange
MnDOT will construct a new interchange with connections at the busy intersection of Hwy 371 and Hwy 210 for improved safety, future growth and traffic flow in the Brainerd/Baxter area in 2028-2029.
Highlights
- Extend the Hwy 371 east (Dellwood Dr.) and west (Edgewood Dr.) frontage roads between Hwy 210 and Excelsior Rd., includes single-lane roundabouts to improve local access and traffic flow
- Construct a new Hwy 371 bridge to span the BNSF railway and Hwy 210 and an additional bridge over Excelsior Rd.
- Relocate Elder Dr. access to the west at Foley Rd.
- Close the existing Design Rd. connection to Hwy 371
- Keep right-in access points to/from Golf Course Dr. and Fairview Rd.
- Update underground infrastructure, includes storm drainage
- Install retaining walls and berms
- New sidewalk/trails along the interchange to connect with city streets and frontage roads, includes tunnel from south of Excelsior Rd. to Edgewood Dr.
