The Salt Solutions Program is a hands-on program that monitors and employs research on equipment, chemicals and the training needed to successfully implement a winter bare lane program statewide. It includes but is not limited to pre-wetting, de-icing, anti-icing and sensible salting on the state highway system throughout the entire state, with emphasis on environmental effects and how to complete our jobs economically without sacrificing the safety of our customers.
CTAP provides practical training in best practices and new technologies to maintenance personnel from cities, counties, townships and the state. CTAP uses a fully equipped van to provide on-site training across the state of Minnesota. The workshops are often hands-on with demonstrations of new equipment, materials and technologies.
Current CTAP training courses include:
Asphalt Pavement Maintenance
Culvert Installation and Maintenance
Dust Control on Unpaved Roads
Gravel Road Maintenance
Roadside Vegetation Management and Erosion Control
Snow and Ice Control
Classes can be scheduled by calling the CTAP instructor, Kathleen Schaefer at 651-366-3575, or via the CTAP website.
