About this project
Building upon the Mankato/North Mankato Area Planning Organization (MAPO) Hwy 169 Corridor Study in 2021, MnDOT is developing a project planned for construction in 2027 and 2028.
This two-year project will revitalize Hwy 169 as a gateway into Mankato and North Mankato, improving safety, traffic flow, and bicycle and pedestrian accommodations. The project includes pavement and aesthetic improvements, construction of two roundabouts and two pedestrian underpasses, new trail connections, utility work, and bridge repairs.

2027 construction will include work from Belgrade Ave. to north of Hwy 14
- Reconstruct Hwy 169 for a significant, long-term pavement fix
- Construct a roundabout at Webster Ave.
- Remove the signal and close the access at Lind St., and realign to construct at roundabout at N. River Ln. connecting to a new City street
- Improve bicycle and pedestrian accommodations through added trail connections and the construction of two pedestrian underpasses
- Construct a noise wall along Hwy 169 between McKinley Ave. and Tyler Ave.
2028 Summary of work
2028 construction will include work from Riverfront Dr. to Belgrade Ave.
- Improve Hwy 169 pavement

During 2027 construction, traffic will be detoured during construction utilizing the following routes:
