About this project

Summary of work
The construction of a roundabout at the intersection of Hwy 63 (75th St. NW) and Olmsted Co. Rd. 112 (18th Ave. NW) is scheduled to begin June 2, 2025 north of Rochester. Work is expected to be completed by September.
Currently, this is an intersection with two highway-speed roads. Stop signs control traffic on Co. Rd. 112. At times, drivers become impatient because of limited gaps in traffic. This has led to a sustained history of crashes. Building a roundabout at the intersection will help reduce dangerous driving behavior and the number of crashes by improving traffic flow.

Benefits of a roundabout
- Significantly reduces the risk of serious and fatal crashes
- Roundabouts show an 86% decrease in fatal crashes and an 83% decrease in life-altering injury crashes
- Allows drivers to get through the intersection more safely and in less time
- Roundabouts handle high levels of traffic with less delay than most stop signs or signals
- Slows traffic to make entering and exiting the area easier for all users
Navigating a roundabout
Roundabouts may be unfamiliar at first, but with practice, navigating them will get easier with each trip. Watch our roundabout simulation and see how it works. Learn more about roundabouts.
Traffic impacts
- The intersection of Hwy 63 and Co. Rd. 112 will be closed during construction.
