Update

The community is invited to an information meeting on May 19 to learn more about the upcoming construction. During the open house style event, people can stop any time between 4 to 6 p.m. to learn more about the construction timelines, ask questions to the project team and learn how to stay connected during the project.

Summary of work

Construction is scheduled to occur over two years. The work during 2022 is scheduled from May 23 to early November, weather permitting. In 2023, work is scheduled to begin early April and end mid-July. Work includes the following.

  • Reconstruction of Hwy 57 in Kasson from Veterans Memorial Highway/Dodge Co. Rd. 34 to 11th St. NE.
  • Construction of roundabout at Hwy 57 and Veterans Memorial Highway/Dodge Co. Rd. 34.
  • Construction of mini roundabout at Hwy 57 and Main St.

Work is being split into stages.

  • Stage 1A starts and will be completed in 2022 and includes all reconstruction work from just north of 1st St. NE to south of 7th St. NE.
  • Stage 1B starts and will be completed in 2022, including reconstruction work from south of 7th St. NE to north of 11th St. NE.
  • Stage 2 will be completed in 2023 and includes all reconstruction work from south of Veterans Memorial Highway/Dodge Co. Rd. 34 to south of 1st St. NE, including the roundabout at Co. Rd. 34 and the mini roundabout at Main St.

Stage 1A/Stage 1B detour for Hwy 57 traffic traveling north:

May 23 to November 2022

  • Turn left on Co. Rd. 34 (Co. Rd. 34 turns into 8th Ave. SW/ Co. Rd. 21)
  • Turn right on Co. Rd. 12 which takes motorists back to Hwy 57

Hwy 57 traffic traveling south will use the same detour in reverse.

Stage 1A detour for pedestrians going north:

May 23 to November 2022

  • Turn left on West Main St.
  • Turn right onto 1st Ave. NW
  • Turn right on to 7th St. NW which takes pedestrians to Hwy 57

Pedestrians going south will use the same detour in reverse.

Stage 1B detour for pedestrians going north:

After July 18 to November 2022

  • Pedestrians will have access on either the east or west side of Hwy 57 from 7th St. NE to just north of 11th St. NE depending on the construction schedule

Pedestrians going south will use the same detour in reverse.

Stage 2 detour for Hwy 57 traffic traveling north:

Detour occurs in 2023 - exact dates will be shared once determined

  • Turn left on 4th St. SW
  • Turn right on 2nd Ave. SW
  • Turn left on Co. Rd. 34 (Co. Rd. 34 turns into 8th Ave. SW/Co. Rd. 21)
  • Turn right on Co. Rd. 12 which takes motorists back to Hwy 57

Hwy 57 traffic traveling south will use the same detour in reverse.

Stage 2 detour for pedestrians going north:

Detour occurs in 2023 - exact dates will be shared once determined

  • Turn left on 2nd St. SW
  • Turn left on Co. Rd. 34
  • Turn right on 2nd Ave. SW
  • Turn right on West Main St.
  • Turn left on 1st Ave. NW
  • Turn right on 2nd St. NW which takes pedestrians to Hwy 57

Pedestrians going south will use the same detour in reverse.
