Hwy 10 and 23—St. Cloud

Interchange east of the Mississippi River in Benton County

Work, traffic plans

Plan for delays and changes when you travel through this busy interchange area in east St. Cloud from mid-April to mid-November in 2023 and 2024.

Overall Hwy 10 and 23 will be reduced to one lane in both directions, 24-7, through the interchange workzone each year. The access loops and ramps will close and detour to/from the interchange.

Off-road work to occur year-round. All traffic impacts are tentative and weather dependent.

2023 interchange workzone

Prep work

Crews will begin to prepare work areas April 17. Expect to see workers and equipment. Motorists to encounter periodic lane or shoulder closures within the work zone. For current impacts visit the home page.

One-lane traffic, each direction, 24/7

Begins early summer

Hwy 23

  • One-lane traffic in each direction between Wilson Ave. SE to 25th Ave. NE.
    • Note: Motorists will use the westbound side as crews reconstruct the eastbound road and bridge

Hwy 10

  • One-lane traffic in each direction between 15th Ave./7th Ave. SE and Benton Dr.
    • Note: Motorists will use the eastbound side as crews reconstruct the westbound road

Ramp closures

Access ramps and loops will close to/from the interchange. Follow the two detours set in place along Hwy 10 or Hwy 23 as follows:

Access north or east of the interchange
  • Hwy 10 at Golden Spike Rd. to Hwy 23 at Benton Co. Rd. 1
Access south or west of the interchange
  • Hwy 10 at 15th Ave. SE to Hwy 23 at Lincoln Ave. SE

St. Cloud is open

Access will be maintained along the work zone, however expect changes to access. Side streets and entrances will close at times for construction. Follow signs or use alternate routes

Fourth St. SE bridge

Access will close to/from Hwy 10 to construct the new Fourth St. SE bridge over Hwy 10. Access will be open from Lincoln Ave. SE

  • Spring 2023: Prior to Hwy 23 bridge construction, Fourth St. SE to close between Lincoln Ave. SE and Hwy 10. A temporary access will be available from Lincoln Ave. SE to area businesses. The closure is necessary to reconstruct the road and replace underground utilities

Area roadwork on Hwy 301

Mid-April to September

MnDOT will reconstruct Hwy 301, replace underground storm sewer and restore the historic wall along the Minnesota Correctional Facility in St. Cloud. Hwy 301 will close and detour via 15th Ave. SE and Hwy 10.

Overall Hwy 10 and Hwy 23 will be one-lane traffic in both directions, 24-7, through the interchange workzone. The access loops and ramps will close and detour to/from the interchange

Lane closures

  • Hwy 23: Reduced to one-lane traffic in each direction, 24/7, between Wilson Ave. SE and 25th Ave. NE.
    • Note: Motorists will use the westbound side as crews reconstruct the eastbound road and bridge over Hwy 10.
  • Hwy 10: Reduced to one-lane traffic in each direction, 24/7, between 15th Ave./7th Ave. SE and Benton Dr.
