Certification process

If you know what certifications you are to be training for this season, go directly to the next step. If you have prior certifications that may be expiring, you are responsible to recertify before they expire.

Lake Superior College’s will provide a current list of all classes, including course descriptions.

MnDOT employees: Work with your district Training and Development Specialist who will complete your registration. Please be sure they have your Tech ID number and that they send you the class confirmation email.

You are responsible for bringing all required course materials to class. This includes written manuals, class packets, and other resources such as laptops/tablets and calculators. No materials will be sent or provided to you at the class.

See the class notification email, sent to you from LSC two weeks before class for other details.

You will find all logistical information about the class in the confirmation email sent to you by Lake Superior College. This will include class date(s), times, and location.

If someone else registered you for the class and you did not receive the confirmation email, you must check with whoever registered you for more information.

All certifications/recertifications have a written exam, delivered online. The classes listed below require a performance review/exam that must be completed and recorded for you to receive the certification.

  • Aggregate Production Tester Certification (APTC)
  • Bituminous Plant Tester Certification (BPTC)
  • Bituminous Mix Designer Certification (BMDC)
  • Concrete Field Tester Certification (CFTC)
  • Concrete Strength Tester Certification (CSTC)
  • Grading and Base Tester Certification (GBTC)

Within a week of successfully completing all course requirements, you will be able to see your certification and its expiration date.
