These are to be used as design aids/tools. No direct reference should be made in your project Special Provisions to the SALT webage and the various websites for special provision language on the site. The SALT website is constantly updated and so should not be the basis of a contract.
One way to avoid this is to download the website special provisions from the SALT website to a local website just prior to the advertising period (“freeze it”) and reference the local web site in the special provisions. But there may be other ways to address the concern. County and City Engineers need to work out any implementation of the technique with their agency attorney. Please contact the Federal Aid staff at if you have questions on the use of this tool.
