About Us
The Pavement Design Unit consists of engineers specializing in pavement design and non-destructive testing of pavement structures.
We conduct pavement designs, review designs from the eight Mn/DOT districts, maintain the Pavement Design Manual, coordinate non-destructive testing such as falling-weight deflectometer (FWD) and friction tests to evaluate the condition of trunk highways in Minnesota, and determine the dates for application and removal of Spring Load Limits and Winter Load Increases.
