Background
The Minnesota Department of Transportation is currently considering three options for the interchange design at I-94 and Hwy 75. All three options would include an auxiliary lane in each direction between Hwy 75 and 20th Street.
Layout 1 - Diverging Diamond

Pros
- Lowest construction costs
- Removes right angle (left turn) conflicts
- Simplifies signal phasing
- Lower cost may allow for additional corridor improvements
Cons
- Need for adjustment in maintenance (snow removal)
- New concept for drivers
- Concentrates westbound traffic to one ramp
Project 2035 simulations (double-speed)
- Morning peak traffic (72 MB WMV)

Layout 2 - Partial Cloverleaf - Northeast Loop

Pros
- Separates westbound traffic between two ramps
Cons
- Create new merge point on I-94
- Includes right angle (left turn) conflicts
- Additional cost of loop
Project 2035 simulations (double-speed)
- Morning peak traffic (90 MB WMV)
Layout 3 - Partial Cloverleaf - Northeast/Southwest Loops

Pros
- Separates westbound traffic between two ramps
- Separates eastbound traffic between two ramps
Cons
- Creates new merge points on I-94
- Includes right angle (left turn) conflicts
- Additional cost of loops
Project 2035 simulations (double-speed)
- Morning peak traffic (90 MB WMV)
