Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) - Class I Actions

The purpose of the EIS is to disclose information about a project’s environment so that the state can make decisions about the actions they need to take to address significant environmental impacts.

When to use this subject

Prepare an EIS on any project that has the potential for significant environmental impacts. For assistance with determining the level of environmental review required, visit the Environmental Document Decision Tree.

How this subject fits into the overall project development process

The environmental review process is a lengthy process that begins in scoping  and ends with the decision document, which is the adequacy determination for MEPA and Record of Decision for NEPA.
