Function
The USACE is the nation’s environmental engineer. This agency restores degraded ecosystems, constructs sustainable facilities, regulates waterways, manages natural resources, and cleans up contaminated sites from past military activities. The USACE plays an influential role in the decision-making process for many aspects of water and environmental issues, specifically when projects involve or impact waters of the United States.
