Highway 56 construction
When the work south of West Concord begins the week of July 14, construction crews will be making concrete pavement repairs on Highway 56 from West Concord south to Highway 14 near Dodge Center. They will patch and replace damaged concrete panels or repair or seal joints. The work takes time to remove the concrete, repair and wait for the new concrete to cure or gain strength to hold vehicle traffic. The two-lane highway only has space for the repairs and construction equipment, so no through traffic is allowed. Residents will be able to reach their homes and businesses along the highway.
A map of the detour route is also included on a link at the website.
Detour
The roads will be closed to through traffic.
Residents will be able to reach their homes and businesses but may have to use alternate routes at times. Work is scheduled to begin the week of July 14 and be completed in August, weather permitting.
Highway 56 will be closed from Dodge County Road 34 to West Concord (Dodge County Road 24).
- Detour route: If going south, go east on Dodge County Road 24, south on Dodge County Road 7, east on Dodge County Road 20, south on Dodge County Road 7 to Dodge Center and west on Dodge County Road 34 to reach Highway 56
- If going north, take the above detour route in reverse.
