Summary of work
Multiple highways in southeast Minnesota are scheduled to be improved from 2025 to 2026. The process being used is called Concrete Pavement Restoration (CPR). This improves the functionality, strength and appearance of concrete roads. The work can include patching, slab replacement or joint/crack sealing.
The following roads will be worked on during 2025:
- Hwy 63 from the Iowa state line to Spring Valley (Hwy 16)
- Hwy 56 from Dodge Co. Rd. 34 to West Concord (Dodge Co. Rd. 24)
Traffic impacts
Hwy 63 traffic impacts
The first section of Hwy 63 that will be worked on will be 0.5 miles from the Iowa state line to the Hwy 56 intersection.
- Half of that work zone will be worked on with Hwy 63 having a lane closure with signals directing traffic.
- When work occurs on the Hwy 63 and Hwy 56 intersection, Hwy 56 motorists will be detoured.
- Detour route: Hwy 63 north, west on Fillmore Co. Rd. 14, south on Fillmore Co. Rd. 1, west on Mower Co. Rd. 11, south on Mower Co. Rd. 53 and south on Mower Co. Rd. 12 to reach Hwy 56
Hwy 63 will be closed to thru project when that work occurs from north of Hwy 56 to Spring Valley (Hwy 16)
- Detour route: Hwy 16, Mower Co. Rd. 14 and Hwy 56
Hwy 56 traffic impacts
During the work, Hwy 56 will be closed from Dodge Co. Rd. 34 to West Concord (Dodge Co. Rd. 24).
- Detour route: If going south, go east on Dodge Co. Rd. 24, south on Dodge Co. Rd. 7, east on Dodge Co. Rd. 20, south on Dodge Co. Rd. 7 and west on Dodge Co. Rd. 34 to reach Hwy 56
- If going north, take the above detour route in reverse.
