Westbound I-90 traffic impacts begin May 19 for road resurfacing between Austin and Dexter
ROCHESTER, Minn. —Motorists traveling on westbound I-90 will experience traffic impacts from Dexter to Austin beginning May 19 for road resurfacing, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
This year’s work is expected to be completed late-August. Crews will resurface I-90 westbound lanes from 0.4 miles east of Hwy 16 near Dexter to 28th Street NE in Austin. The westbound I-90 exit and entrance ramps will also be resurfaced.
I-90 westbound and eastbound traffic will travel in single lanes adjacent to each other on I-90 eastbound in the project area. Ramps will close and detoured while they are being resurfaced. Rochester Sand & Gravel is the prime contractor of this $10 million project.
This work is part of a multi-year project. In 2028-2029, eastbound I-90 will be resurfaced from 28th Street NE in Austin to 0.4 miles east of Hwy 16 near Dexter. Also, the eastbound I-90 exit and entrance ramps will be resurfaced, and box culverts at Rose Creek will be replaced.
