About this project
Summary of work
This project involves replacing a bridge on Hwy 40, located 3 miles south of Lac Qui Parle Valley Middle/High School, with a new box culvert. This work will provide a smoother driving surface, improve driver safety, and help the structure last longer.
The project will focus on:
- Culvert Replacement: Updating the structure for safety and functionality.
- Load Restrictions: Removing current weight limits for safer travel.
- Long-Term Durability: Extending the life of the infrastructure and reducing future repairs.
Traffic impacts
During the bridge replacement work, travelers will be detoured along Highways 40 and 75, and County Roads 22, 19, and 26.
Project Update: July 6, 2026
- Crews are removing excess clay from the site and bringing in sand. The box culverts are installed.
