Hwy 23 Ramps

Willmar

About this project

Summary of MnDOT work

  • Construct three ramps (including the northwest, northeast, and southwest corners) at the intersection of Highway 23 and Kandiyohi County Road 5 in Willmar

Traffic impacts

  • The southwest ramp for Hwy 23 and CR 5 is now open
  • The northeast ramp for Hwy 23 and CR 5 is now open
  • Travelers can no longer access 19th Ave SW from WB or EB Hwy 23
  • During current construction of the northwest ramp, travelers will be able to make a right turn onto Hwy 23 for WB travel from 19th Ave SW; the intersection will close permanently upon completion of the northwest ramp
  • Work is mostly taking place off of the highway and there are minimal impacts to the traveling public
  • Travelers should watch for workers and heavy equipment entering and exiting the roadway
  • Hwy 23 travelers will encounter temporary and shifting shoulder and lane closures throughout the duration of the project; allow extra time during peak travel
  • A flagging operation will guide travelers through the work zone during paving operations in mid-to-late September
  • Access to the existing southeast ramp onto Hwy 23 will not be affected
  • See map below for work zone
