Current impacts

Detour through late August

  • Hwy 18 closed to all traffic at the Marmon Creek bridge
    • Detour: Hwy 169 north of Garrison, Aitkin Co. Rd. 28, Aitkin Co. Rd. 12 and Hwy 47 Glen to Malmo (adds more than 34 miles)
      • Access will be maintained and open north and south of the hard closure between 327th Pl. and 325th Ave.
      • Boat access and Wayside Park at 325th Avenue will remain accessible from Malmo.

      • Related work the week of July 13: The intersection of Hwy 47, Hwy 18 and Co. Rd. 2 in Malmo will become a permanent all-way stop. This change is expected to improve safety and reduce the risk of severe crashes. News release (June 29, 2026)

MnDOT is replacing the box bridge over the Marmon Creek between 327th Pl. and 325th Ave. along the northeast shore of Mille Lacs Lake, west of Malmo, Aitkin County.
