Traffic impacts

  • Highway 194/Mesaba Ave westbound over W Superior Street will be closed starting June 22, 2026. Closure expected through mid-July.
    • No direct access from I-35 to Mesaba Ave or eastbound W Superior Street to Mesaba Ave
    • Vehicle detour exits at Hwy 53 and travels to Hwy 194/Central Entrance. Alternate detour is Michigan St exit to 4th Ave W.
    • No pedestrian impacts during this stage
  • Southbound I-35 on-ramp from southbound Hwy 194 and W Superior St will be closed starting mid-July. Closure expected through late September
    • Vehicle detour travels Hwy 194/Central Entrance to Hwy 53 to I-35 southbound
    • No pedestrian impacts for this closure
  • W Superior Street under Hwy 194/Mesaba Ave westbound will be closed starting mid-August. Closure expected through mid-October
    • Vehicle detour via W 1st St to Mesaba Ave
    • Pedestrian detour via N 6th Ave W to W 1st St to Mesaba Ave
