Project Scheduling

Purpose

A project schedule defines the tasks, resources, and timeframe needed to deliver the project. It can serve as a management reporting tool as well as an implementation tool to help get work done on time, communicating timely project status information to the project team and stakeholders.

While a project schedule is a useful communication tool for the project manager and project team, it should not be the only communication tool that the project manager or project team should use.

When to use this subject

A project schedule is required for any MnDOT let project.

For specific process information, see the other guidance page and/or contact the individuals on the contacts page.

How this subject fits into the overall project development process

Utilize schedules once a project has been identified. Scoping schedules help a project manager and project team develop the scope of a project in a timely manner. Design schedules help a project manager and project team develop the scoped project through the design process.
