MnDOT to host public meetings for Hwy 280 construction projects from St. Paul to Roseville
ROSEVILLE, Minn. —The Minnesota Department of Transportation invites the community to attend public meetings to learn more about significant improvements to Hwy 280 from Interstate 94 in St. Paul to Hwy 36/Interstate 35W in Roseville starting in April 2026.
MnDOT will host an in-person meeting from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan.21 at the CASE building Atrium, 767 Eustis St. N, St. Paul, MN 55114. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about the project and ask questions to the project team. There will be no formal presentation; the public is invited to stop by at any time.
A virtual meeting is planned for Tuesday, Feb. 3 from 6 to 7 p.m. This meeting will include a presentation allow community members an opportunity to ask questions. A link to register for the virtual meeting is available on the MnDOT project website.
Beginning in April through fall 2026, MnDOT will resurface Hwy 280, repair bridges, repair and resurface ramps, repair drainage and make additional improvements. Resurfacing the aging pavement, improving drainage and repairing bridges will extend the life of the Hwy and bridges, improve safety and provide a smoother ride for motorists.
Motorists can expect a full closure of Hwy 280 from Interstate 94 to Hwy 36/Interstate 35W in 2026. A full closure allows crews to finish construction quickly and safely. Hwy 280 will reopen before the beginning of the State Fair in late August. After the State Fair, MnDOT will make efforts to limit traffic impacts to lane closures through fall 2026.
In spring 2028, MnDOT will continue to repair bridges and make safety and accessibility improvements for all who travel along and across Hwy 280.
