I-90 to Ceylon

About this project

Hwy 263 from I-90 to Ceylon will be resurfaced in preparation for a turnback of the highway to Martin County. Based on the quality of the pavement, the following segments will have different types of pavement improvements:

  • I-90 to Hwy 26: mill and overlay (pavement preservation)
  • Hwy 26 to Ceylon: reclamation (a more significant pavement preservation)
  • City of Ceylon: four blocks of pavement through town will be replaced
  • Under I-90 bridges: 200’ of pavement will be replaced

Benefits

  • Improved pavement, smoother road surface
  • Upgraded 4’ paved shoulders to accommodate bicyclists and pedestrians
  • Improved safety through:
    • New lighting at rural intersections (Hwy 8, Hwy 22, Hwy 26) and in Ceylon
    • Snow control measures along the north side of Hwy 263 from Grove Street to 130th Avenue
    • Guardrail
    • Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accommodations in Ceylon – improved pedestrian ramps, reduced ramp slopes, replaced sidewalk
  • Updated utilities in Ceylon
  • Improved drainage
