About this project
Building upon the Mankato/North Mankato Area Planning Organization (MAPO) Hwy 169 Corridor Study in 2021, MnDOT is developing a project for 2027 and 2028 construction that implements key elements to improve the pavement, safety and traffic flow of Hwy 169 through the cities of Mankato and North Mankato.
Summary of work
2027 construction will include work from Belgrade Ave. to north of Hwy 14
- Reconstruct Hwy 169 for a significant, long-term pavement fix
- Improve eastbound ramp for Hwy 14 onto Hwy 169
- Construct a roundabout at Webster Ave.
- Remove the signal and close the access at Lind St., and realign to construct at roundabout at N. River Ln. connecting to a new City street
- Improve bicycle and pedestrian accommodations (specific elements to be determined in detailed design)
2028 construction will include work from Riverfront Dr. to Belgrade Ave.
- Improve Hwy 169 pavement
- Repair three bridges
- Improve pavement on the Sherman St./Lookout Dr./Center St. ramps
