What we do

Geodetic Expertise

As the only Geodetic Unit in the state, we are experts in high-precision measuring techniques, both terrestrial and space-based. We provide guidance to internal and external clients on horizontal and vertical positioning methods, adjustment procedures, and data management.

Coordinating with the National Geodetic Survey

We regularly collaborate with the National Geodetic Survey (NGS) to submit data for inclusion in the National Spatial Reference System (NSRS). We also provide valuable feedback on NGS initiatives and policies.

Access to Primary Control

We establish Primary Control, which provides the highest level of certainty in positioning. This control is marked by physical survey marks, following national standards. We also work with the MnCORS Administrator to maintain the accuracy of the Real-Time Reference Network.
