2026 local Active Transportation and Local Safe Routes to School Infrastructure Solicitations

State Aid is pleased to announce the upcoming 2026 Local Active Transportation (AT) and Local Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Infrastructure solicitations, opening September 14, 2026. These concurrent solicitations will provide eligible local entities with approximately $4.8 million for AT projects and $4 million for SRTS projects to support bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure improvements. While the local SRTS solicitation will be open statewide, the local AT solicitation will again be limited to Greater Minnesota outside of the seven county Metro area.
State Aid will hold informational webinars on September 8th, 9th and 10th to share solicitation details and guidance on the Letter of Intent (LOI) process. Webinar links are currently available on the AT Infrastructure and SRTS Infrastructure webpages. Please check back for additional resources and updates, including the applications, solicitation guides, and FAQs – as they become available.
The solicitations will begin with an optional Letter of Intent (LOI) period. Full applications may be submitted from October 26, 2026, through January 22, 2027, with project selections announced on or before May 28, 2027. Funding selections will range from $50,000 to $600,000 and target projects ready for construction in 2027 or 2028 with a minimum useful life of 10 years.
