Marc Briese, Programs Manager in State Aid, has accepted a temporary assignment in MnDOT’s Office of Transportation System Management (OTSM) from May 20 to October 6, 2026. Girma Feyissa will be stepping in to lead the Programs Unit during Marc’s absence.
Girma has 20 years of experience MnDOT, and he currently leads key statewide local traffic safety efforts, including the federal Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) program, County Road Safety Plans (CRSP), Traffic Safety Workshops, and other initiatives that advance Minnesota’s Toward Zero Deaths (TZD) vision. He will continue these efforts while jumping in to lead program activities. (e.g. Needs, Local Road Improvement Program (LRIP), Safe Routes to School (SRTS), Active Transportation (AT), Bridge programs, etc.) However, Marc will take a few State Aid items with him to OTSM - please continue to work with Marc on state earmarks, Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) match and technical assistance projects.
