MnDOT publishes 11th Edition of the MN MUTCD
By: Tiffany Kautz, Traffic Safety Engineer, MnDOT Office of Traffic Engineering
MnDOT is pleased to publish the 11th Edition of the Minnesota Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MN MUTCD). The content remains unchanged from its draft version.
The MN MUTCD provides statewide standards for the design, placement, and use of traffic control devices—including signs, signals, and pavement markings. It applies to all public roads, as well as pedestrian and bicycle facilities throughout Minnesota while ensuring a consistent and predictable experience for everyone using our roads and active transportation networks. The MN MUTCD is based on the national MUTCD but is tailored to fit Minnesota’s needs when possible.
The 11th Edition of the MN MUTCD will be officially adopted by the Commissioner of Transportation on January 18, 2026. Starting on January 18th, all new or reconstructed traffic control devices must comply with this new manual.
