Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Needs Assessment
To help make your air cleaner, the State of Minnesota is preparing for the shift from internal combustion engine transportation to Electric Vehicle (EV) transportation. This will help meet statewide targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and EVs described in the State Climate Action Framework and the Statewide Multimodal Transportation Plan.
For the past year, MnDOT and partners developed the Minnesota Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Needs Assessment (EVINA). The project is now complete and to help with planning EV charging infrastructure statewide, we are sharing:
- Project report (PDF)
- EV adoption and charging needs forecast
- EV charging station guidelines
- Long-distance infrastructure needs
- Community charging infrastructure needs
- Public engagement
- Implementation recommendations
- Long-distance online dashboard
- The dashboard is a tool showing areas of prioritization for fast charging infrastructure needs but does NOT commit state resources to building the EV charging stations. It’s intended to help private partners and other public entities with planning future buildout.
