Angel Staples
Effective July 30, 2025, Angel Staples joined the Bridge State Aid unit as the new Bridge Review and Support Engineer. Angel brings many years of experience in the bridge industry, with expertise in bridge final design, bridge asset management and historic structures planning, design and preservation. Away from work, you will most likely find Angel outdoors, connecting with nature, friends and family while hiking, biking, paddling or fishing.
Mark Channer
After more than 36 years with MnDOT, Mark Channer has officially retired. His last day was July 15th. Mark began his MnDOT career in 1989 and joined State Aid in November 1993. He worked in the Needs Unit for five years before transitioning to Federal Aid, where he served as the Project Award and Finalist Specialist from 2006 until his retirement.
We appreciate everything he’s done and hope you’ll join us in congratulating him on this new chapter!
We’re pleased to announce that Naomi Eckerd will be stepping into Mark’s role. Naomi has been with the Needs unit since May 2019 and transitioned to federal aid in early July. Please join us in welcoming Naomi to her new role.
