MnDOT Standard Specifications for Construction

2020 edition

The 2020 edition is effective for most projects let on or after Jan. 27, 2022.

All project documents submitted for the Jan. 27, 2022 letting, or later lettings, must be in accordance with the 2020 Spec Book. 

Changes from the 2018 Edition

Vertical change lines have been added to indicate text that has changed from the 2018 Edition. These change lines are intended as a courtesy to the reader, and MnDOT does not guarantee that all text changes are indicated by change lines.

  • Change lines are in the in the left and right margins bordering paragraphs with change(s). The change lines border the whole paragraph, even if only one line in the paragraph has changed.
  • For tables, each row with change(s) has heavy vertical outside border lines on both sides.

2018 edition

The 2018 edition is effective for most projects let on or after January 26, 2018 through January 27, 2022.

Change lines were added to the margins of the 2018 Edition to indicate text that changed from the 2016 Edition. The intent of these lines is to help the reader - although MnDOT does not guarantee that all text changes are indicated by change lines.

Older editions

Due to problems with conversion, the PDF pages we are posting here are not an exact match to the printed Standard Specification for construction 2000 edition. The printed/published book governs.
