Overnight closures begin Sunday, Sept. 27 on Highway 65 in Blaine

Expect lane, road closures through this fall on Highway 65 in Blaine

ROSEVILLE, Minn. – In addition to daily lane closures, overnight lane closures begin this Sunday evening through the next few weeks on Highway 65 between 93rd Ave. and 121st Ave./Paul Pkwy in Blaine stated the Minnesota Department of Transportation. The overnight closures begin at 10 p.m. Sun, Sept. 27 until 7 a.m. Mon, Sept. 28, at the intersection of 99th Ave. to northbound Hwy 65. There will also be a lane closure at the intersection of 105th Ave. and southbound Hwy 65 from 9 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday. Both closures will allow construction crews to continue work on temporary widening of the highway to carry traffic beginning next year.

And just a quick reminder: motorists using Highway 65 for travel, work or play, should watch out for lane and road closures until the end of the construction season later this fall. Additionally, 113th Ave. remains closed at southbound Hwy 65 for work on the new pedestrian/bicycle crossing and we closed 103rd Way on the west side of the highway last week to install sanitary sewer and water pipes beneath the local street.

When work is completed at 103rd Way in mid-October, we’ll close 104th Way/105th Ave. at southbound Hwy 65 along closing 105 th Ave. on the east side of Hwy 65. During the closure, traffic will still be able to travel from northbound Hwy 65 to eastbound 105th Ave.

During the closures, drivers should consider using alternate routes to avoid congestion and delays and follow the signed detours to reach their destination.

We appreciate your patience while we make these improvements. Visit 511mn.org or download the free 511MN app for real-time traffic and travel information.

Please note that all timeframes are approximate, subject to change, and weather and schedule dependent.

The five-year project will convert the existing at-grade intersections at 99th Ave., 105th Ave., 109th Ave. and 117th Ave./Cloud Dr. into interchanges, with Hwy 65 traveling above. The project also includes a pedestrian bridge across the new freeway between 113th and 114th Avenues, rerouting existing local street/driveway connections using frontage/backage roads between 97th Ave. and 121st Ave. along with reconstructing existing sidewalk along the road to meet Americans with Disability Act (ADA) standards.

When completed in summer 2030, this project will provide a smoother road surface and extend pavement life, enhance accessibility, reduce congestion, improve traffic flow and improve safety along the road.
