Southbound Highway 51/Snelling Avenue weekend closure postponed in Arden Hills, Roseville
Closure and paving moved to the weekend of Oct. 2-5
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Due to this weekend’s rainy forecast, the Minnesota Department of Transportation has postponed the planned closure of southbound Highway 51/Snelling Ave./Hamline Ave. planned this weekend (Sept. 25-28) until the following weekend, Oct. 2-5. Construction crews will close the southbound lanes next weekend to resurface the highway from I-694 in Arden Hills to Hwy 36 in Roseville. The closure will begin at 9 p.m., Fri, Oct. 2, through 5 a.m. Mon, Oct 5. Weather permitting.
During the work, cross streets will be closed while crews are working nearby. There will be short-term closures of the ramp and loop from southbound Snelling Ave. to eastbound and westbound Highway 36 during the weekend.
NOTE: The contractor will have flaggers stationed along the highway between Asbury Ave. and Old Snelling Ave./Co. Rd. 76 to guide residents into and out of the neighborhood on the west side of the highway.
During the work, motorists should follow the signed detour east on I-694, south on I-35E and west on Highway 36 or use alternate routes to avoid congestion and delays.
The northbound lanes of Snelling Ave. were resurfaced in late May. Final work on the highway should be complete by mid-October.
We appreciate your patience while we make these improvements. Plan ahead by checking 511, and give yourself additional time to reach your destination.
Please note that all timeframes are approximate, subject to change, and weather and schedule dependent.
