Construction at Plymouth Road, Ridgedale Drive in Minnetonka begins mid-July
ROSEVILLE, Minn. — Crews will begin construction in mid-July at Plymouth Road and Ridgedale Drive at
Interstate 394 in Minnetonka, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
The ramps to and from I-394 at both Plymouth Road and Ridgedale Drive will remain open, but motorists can expect lane shifts and lane reductions on both Plymouth Road and Ridgedale Drive over I-394. This project will replace traffic signals and improve sidewalks. Work is scheduled to be completed in October.

Plymouth Road Construction
These improvements will be made at the westbound I-394 ramps to/from Plymouth Road:
- Traffic signal replacement at the Plymouth Road ramps to/from westbound I-394.
- Reconstruct the sidewalk on the west side of Plymouth Road from the North Frontage Road to the south of the I-394 bridge.
- Storm pipe replacement.
Ridgedale Drive Construction
These improvements will be made at the westbound I-394 ramp to Ridgedale Drive and at the Ridgedale Drive ramps to/from eastbound I-394.
- Traffic signal replacement at Ridgedale Drive from the westbound I-394 ramp, and at the Ridgedale Drive ramps to/from eastbound I-394.
- Reconstruct sidewalk on west side of Ridgedale Drive from Wayzata Boulevard North to the eastbound I-394 ramps.
All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather dependent and subject to change. MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution and slow down in work zones where workers are present.
Additional west metro projects on I-394
In addition to the work at Plymouth Road and Ridgedale Drive, travelers in the west metro will encounter more construction work on I-394. Motorists are encouraged to stay informed by visiting the project webpages and signing up for email updates.
I-394 between Highway 100 and downtown Minneapolis — through November
- From mid-summer through November, the eastbound I-394 lanes will be closed, with eastbound traffic using the E-ZPass lanes. Due to this traffic shift, the ramp from Xenia Avenue to eastbound I-394 and the ramp from Cedar Lake Road to eastbound I-394 will be closed through November. Crews are repairing and restoring more than 30 bridges across I-94 and I-394. mndot.gov/metro/projects/i94-i394minneapolis/.
I-394 in St. Louis Park — through September
- This project will add auxiliary lanes on I-394 — this type of lane gives motorists additional space and time to safely accelerate/decelerate to enter and exit I-394. As a result of this work, these closures will occur through September: the ramp from Louisiana Avenue to eastbound I-394; the ramp from eastbound I-394 to Xenia Avenue/Park Place Boulevard; and westbound Wayzata Boulevard between Louisiana Avenue and Zarthan Avenue.
