Follow local signage and plan extra travel time.
To keep workers safe, follow these tips:
- Obey posted speed limits. The fine for speeding in a work zone is $300.
- Stay alert and avoid distractions.
- Move over and give crews space.
- Be patient and expect delays.
- Never enter a road closed with barriers or cones.
- Expect changing conditions, including lane shifts and equipment.
- Check 511mn.org or the free app for real-time travel information.
In early June, the detour will be extended east to Wadena County Road 23 in Verndale as crews close Highway 10 between Wadena County Road 4 and Oink Joint Road to replace the Whiskey Creek culvert and complete other underground work. The road will remain closed until early to mid-July. Highway 10 detour to Verndale detour map (JPG)
When the project is completed in August 2027, travelers will benefit from a smoother, more durable and expanded four-lane highway. Improvements will also enhance safety, drainage and city services in Wadena.
