Portion of Highway 12 closed east of Ortonville due to water over the road
DETROIT LAKES, Minn. – (6:30 a.m.) A portion of U.S. Highway 12 east of Ortonville is closed due to water over the road at Horseshoe Lake, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation. Traffic will be routed to County Road 21 and County Road 25.
The roadway will reopen when water levels have receded.
When a road is closed it is illegal to travel in that area. Motorists can be fined up to $1,000 and/or 90 days in jail. In addition, if travelers need to be rescued from a closed road, other expenses and penalties will apply.
