Lane closures begin May 13 on Hwy10 near County Road 60 west of Perham

DETROIT LAKES, Minn.—Starting Monday, May 13, weather permitting, motorists will encounter lane closures and delays on Highway 10 in both directions west of Perham, as crews begin construction of a J-turn at the intersection of Highway 10 and County Road 60, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
The project will be constructed in stages to minimize commuter impacts, and one lane of traffic in each direction on Highway 10 and County Road 60 will remain open throughout construction. The project is expected to be complete in July.
A J-turn is a type of reduced conflict intersection, converting side street through-travel and left-turn movements into right turns, followed by a U-turn. J-turns have been proven to improve safety by reducing crash potential at intersections. At the Highway 10/County Road 60 intersection, side street left turns and through-movements are the most common generator of serious crashes.

Hough, Inc., based out of Detroit Lakes, Minn., is the prime contractor for the $1.1 million project. For more information about the project, visit the project website at mndot.gov/d4/projects/hwy10rci.
All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather dependent and subject to change. MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution and slow down in work zones where workers are present.
