Fall 2024

Hwy 30 design option A
Hwy 30 design option A has parking on the southside of the road. This allows for additional space to comply with ADA regulations. (click to enlarge)

In fall 2024, we hosted a public meeting to discuss design concepts for these improvements. These included:

  • Option A, which shifts the Hwy 30 center line north with ADA-compliant sidewalks and a boulevard on both sides of Hwy 30. This allows for on-street parking on the south side of the street with a wider boulevard to improve sidewalks and driveway slopes.
  • Option B, which keeps the Hwy 30 center line in place with slightly wider driving lanes and parking on both the north and south sides of the street. However, this design allows for significantly less sidewalk and boulevard space and requires sharper driveway slopes with more significant construction impacts to properties.

Thank you to everyone who shared their feedback on these design concepts. Community members shared support for both options and raised important concerns about potential impacts to driveway access, traffic and parking, including near St. John’s Lutheran Church.

Based on feedback and additional factors like perceived safety and long-term accessibility, the project team will move forward with design option A.
