Hwy 27—Wahkon

Wahkon is open

Hwy 27 is open and the detour has been removed. Crews have rebuilt downtown Main St. giving Wahkon a new roadway, sidewalks and bikes lanes.

MnDOT thanks the local community and travelers for their patience during construction and detour. Please drive with care, watch for people walking and biking, and obey posted signs.

About this project

MnDOT reconstructed and improved Hwy 27 (Main St.) from east of Chippewa Ave. to east of Fourth St. W in Wahkon, Mille Lacs County.

Highlights

• Reconstruct the road surface
• Install curb/gutter and add underground storm sewer
• Add or update sidewalks and pedestrian approaches
• Add bike lanes along both sides of road
• Landscape and install aesthetics to enhance the downtown boulevard
