About this 2025 roadwork project

Begins mid-July

MnDOT will resurface 14 miles of Hwy 25 north and south of Pierz and replace three bridges over waterways in Morrison County. Project requires a detour mid-July through September. Sign up for Hwy 25 Morrison County project email updates

Summary of work

  • Resurface 14 miles of asphalt road, includes turn lanes:
    • Morrison/Crow Wing County line at 175th St. to north Pierz at 4th Ave.
    • South junction Hwy 27 at Pierz/Genola to 123rd St. south of Genola
  • Replace three bridges (box culverts) over Platte River and Wolf Creek
  • Replace or repair drainage pipes under road, includes ditch work
  • Update guardrail
  • Install road markings and rumble strips

Through traffic

Hwy 25 will close and detour to through traffic to work on underground drainage structures/box bridges between 123rd St. south of Genola and 273rd St. at the Morrison/Crow Wing county line, as follows:

  • Hwy 25 detour north of Buckman to Shephard via:
    • 270th Ave. (Co. Rd. 239) north of Buckman
    • 143rd St. Genola/Pierz
    • Hwy 25 Pierz
    • Co. Rd. 39 Pierz (3rd Ave./153rd Ave.)
    • 285th Ave. (Co. Rd. 23/Hwy 27) through Lastrup, Platte and Harding
    • Crow Wing Co. Rd. 2 Shephard

Local access

Hwy 25 will be maintained and open to those who live, work or visit those within the closed work zone; however, hard closures will be necessary at times to work under the road. Enter/exit nearest your destination.

Late September to mid-October

After the drainage structure work is complete, crews will resurface the asphalt during daylight hours. Travelers will encounter:

  • Reduced speeds
  • Segments of alternate one way traffic with flaggers and use of a pilot car
  • Be prepared to suddenly stop or slow down
  • Those entering the work zone must wait and follow the direction of the pilot car
  • Good weather is neccessary to complete this work
