Overnight's week of Mon, Nov. 16

Heads up! Crews will deliver and place beams for the new Hwy 24 bridge to span I-94. The work will occur each overnight between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. starting Mon evening, Nov. 16 through Thu morning, Nov. 19.

  • Both directions of I-94 will be reduced to one-lane and use the Hwy 24 on/off ramps to go around the closed work site. Expect to slow down or stop. Use alternate routes to avoid delays.
  • Hwy 24 bridge closed at I-94, follow detour signs
  • Note: More details to be shared once confirmed

Current work zone

Off-road work and shoulder closures to occur year-round. Primary work in 2026 is to widen and prepare work areas for 2027 construction.

Reconstruct interchange

MnDOT will reconstruct and improve the Hwy 24 interchange at I-94 in Clearwater, Wright County. This includes roundabouts and a new bridge in 2026-2027.

Summary of work

  • Build a new Hwy 24 bridge over I-94, southeast of the current bridge
  • Reconstruct Hwy 24 from Wright Co. Rd. 145 (179th St.) to Smith St.
  • Improve access and traffic flow with:
    • Two roundabouts at the I-94 westbound and eastbound ramps
    • A teardrop-style roundabout at Hwy 24 and Wright Co. Rd. 145
    • New road approaches at Ash St. and Nelson Dr.
  • Extend the concrete sidewalk (along southbound Hwy 24) and the multi-use trail (along northbound Hwy 24) between Co. Rd. 145 and Co. Rd. 75
  • Connect with Wright County’s roundabout project at Hwy 24 and Co. Rd. 7

Reconstruct road, connections:

  • Road surface, medians, on-off ramps, roundabouts, side street approaches, multi-use trail, storm drainage structures, road markings and sign, turf and any other necessary repairs
  • Remove old bridge

Construct under traffic:

  • Lane or shoulder closures, narrow lanes and/or lane shifts in the Hwy 24 work zone
  • Some Hwy 24 overnight closures at I-94 with detour (Google) to complete bridge work: place steel girders, pour the concrete deck
    • Hwy 24 detour uses Co. Rd. 75 Clearwater, Co. Rd. 8 Hasty and Co. Rd. 39 back to Hwy 24 north of Annandale
  • Changes to access and use of temporary or alternate entrances or exits
  • Reduced speeds
