Goal
To smoothly and timely Let, Award, and Approve contracts according to Specifications for Construction.
The Contracts and Lettings Unit manages the bidding, contracting and bonding for highway construction and maintenance projects.

What to expect from the unit
- Consultation for project start date
- Consultation for special lettings and selection of special letting date in coordination with Tech Support Pre-Letting
- To copy you on Reject All Bids Letters so you know that your project will need to be re-thought, and possibly relet
What you need to provide to the unit
- CC’ Contracts and Lettings on Submittal Memos to Tech Support Pre-Letting
- Notification Request for special lettings when they arise so a date can be secured for your project
- Communication when issues arise after Advertisement or Letting that would impact Contract Award
- Such as permits and/or agreements
- Communication when issues arise after Award that would impact Contract Approval
- Such as permits and/or agreements
What the unit expects from you
- Communication in a timely fashion when issues arise
- Contracting is bound by numerous deadlines
- Delay issues can result in claims against the Department as owner-caused delays
