Minnesota Freight Advisory Committee (MFAC)

The mission of MFAC is to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and addressing of issues between MnDOT and the private sector to develop and promote a safe, reliable, efficient and environmentally responsible freight transportation system for the state. www.dot.state.mn.us/ofrw/mfac/

Center for Transportation Studies (CTS) Research Council on Transportation and the Economy

This Council examines how transportation is related to the economy, looking at topics concerning imports/exports, community linkages, logistics, telecommunications, economic development, public policy, the global economy, etc. Faculty representatives from the University of Minnesota Humphrey Institute, Carlson School of Management, Geography, Agricultural and Applied Economics, Economics and other disciplines join non-university representatives on this Council. MnDOT Office of Freight and Commercial Vehicle Operations is represented on this Council. www.cts.umn.edu/

Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP)

CSCMP is a not-for-profit professional business organization whose purpose is to enhance the development of the logistics profession with educational opportunities and relevant information through a variety of programs, services and activities. MnDOT's Freight Unit participates through representation on the local CSCMP "Roundtable" Education Committee. www.cscmp.org

Mid-America Freight Coalition (MAFC)

Regional Solutions for a Regional Issue. The Mid-America Freight Coalition is a regional organization that cooperates in the planning, operation, preservation, and improvement of transportation infrastructure in the Midwest. The ten states of the AASHTO Mid-America Association of State Transportation Officials (MAASTO) share key interstate corridors, inland waterways, and the Great Lakes. www.midamericafreight.org

Midwest Shippers Association (MSA)

MSA was created through an appropriation made by the 2001 Minnesota Legislature to develop an organization designed to facilitate direct trade for Minnesota agricultural producers to end users, primarily in the international marketplace. MSA executive and steering committees are made up of member farmers/producers and appropriate representation from Minnesota government agencies including MnDOT. MSA submitted their application for grant money under a rural development program of the USDA on 10/28/03. MnDOT has provided a letter of support for the application. www.mnshippers.org

Mississippi Valley Freight Coalition

This regional organization cooperates in the planning, operation, preservation, and improvement of transportation infrastructure in the 10-state Mississippi Valley region that share key interstate corridors, rail infrastructure, and inland and Great Lakes waterways. www.mississippivalleyfreight.org
