Highway 60 Lake Crystal reconstruction project complete; detour to end by 6 p.m. tonight
MANKATO, Minn. – The Highway 60 Lake Crystal reconstruction project is complete, and the detour is expected to be removed by 6 p.m. tonight, Oct. 17, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
While Highway 60 will be open to traffic, motorists may encounter brief, temporary lane closures later this fall or next spring as crews complete remaining drainage work.
The project began April 15 and included reconstructing Highway 60 from Blue Earth County Road 20 to Blue Earth County Road 112 and utility replacement in coordination with the City of Lake Crystal. The project also included bridge repairs, intersection improvements, construction of a pedestrian trail, and installation of lighting.
Additionally, to improve safety, a channelized acceleration lane was added for motorists getting onto westbound Highway 60 from North Main Street in Lake Crystal.
Benefits of the project include improved pavement and utilities, increased safety and traffic flow, and improved pedestrian accommodations.
