About Pavement Engineering
The goal of pavement engineering is to create and maintain structures that can support the expected level of truck traffic and resist weathering until the next scheduled rehabilitation or reconstruction. The 2007 Pavement Design Manual contains the official Mn/DOT pavement design procedures.
Data collected from laboratory and field tests is used to improve the reliability of pavement designs.
A pavement management system is used to keep track of pavement condition on state routes.
